WE OBEY THE GREAT COMMISSION

We encourage all Baptist women to share their faith in word and deed with people who don't know Jesus.

We support Phyllis Ortiz and her daughter, Erika Abele, at Oasis-Dufferin Community Centre in Toronto (416-536-3197). This centre, located in Dufferin Baptist Church, offers job training, counselling, a food bank, ministries to women and children, and the Gospel of Christ. Many of the clients are Hispanic. We also support Oasis through our prayers, volunteer services, and donations:

  • new seasonal clothes, bedding, and linens for clients who are struggling to make a new life in Canada
  • toiletries, cosmetics, and toys for distribution at Christmas and in emergency situations
  • food for the Oasis Food Bank.

We will contribute about $300,000 this year to Canadian Baptist Ministries to support mission personnel, projects, and overseas partner churches.

We provide grants to:

  • The Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec
  • The Union of French Baptist Churches
  • Friendship House, a ministry to low-income families in Brantford
  • Matthew Houses in Toronto and Windsor, homes for refugee claimants

We develop relationships with women missionaries through our VitaLinks program.

We raise mission awareness in children through annual children's mission projects.

We encourage women's involvement in short-term mission trips such as our 2006 trip to Brazil and 2007 project at the South Asian Welcome Centre in Brampton, and well as in ongoing outreach ministries.

We prayerfully invite your support as we seek to respond to the many mission opportunities that confront us.

WE ENCOURAGE SPIRITUAL GROWTH

We hold regional retreats, biennial conventions, and an annual meeting. We publish resources designed to help women grow in their faith so they can reach out in mission, individually and as women's groups.

WE KEEP WOMEN INFORMED

Our Link & Visitor magazine tells readers about real people, real issues, real answers, and real ways to be salt and light in their homes, communities, and world. We also send the BWOQ E-LINK, a monthly e-mail newsletter for leaders.

WE TRAIN LEADERS

We have sponsored Sonlife (now Renada) Growing Healthy Women in Ministry seminars, promoted NextLevel Leadership, and provided training for our Women's Ministry Links and other leaders.

We also help provide scholarships for emerging female leaders in our overseas partner churches. Ksenija Magda, the current recipient, is an outstanding Croatian woman engaged in post-graduate studies in England at London School of Theology (formerly London Bible College).
