BAPTIST WOMEN'S E-LINK - APRIL 2012
You are reading the April 2012 E-LINK, a monthly newsletter e-mailed from Canadian Baptist Women of Ontario and Quebec (CBWOQ) to all who are interested in CBWOQ's vision and work, and to all who serve and lead on CBWOQ's behalf.
Thank you for sharing the information in this E-LINK with everyone in your church.

Brenda's Blessings
Because of Jesus, we have hope! As we celebrate His death and resurrection for us this Easter may we be reminded again of the hope that He makes available to us as individuals and to our world!
Thank you for the blessing of support, friendship and prayers showered on our family as we anticipated the birth and short life of our newest granddaughter Fianna. She is already adding more sparkle to heaven that we can even begin to imagine!
Over the month of March I appreciated:
-time and conversation at our Female Clergy retreat;
-speaking at Calvary Baptist, Cobourg;
-meeting with a delightful group of young people from Bromley Road. Baptist in Ottawa on their short-term mission to Toronto during March break;
-meeting with First Nations leader Dr. Terry LeBlanc and our CBOQ colleagues.
To finish off this month I look forward to our Groups of Hope training today, March 30, and a Let's Talk session with the Guelph Association ladies on Saturday March 31.
Speaking of time and conversation:
- April 21 is Women on a Mission, our Great Event/annual general meeting. This is really going to be an amazing day and I don't want any of you to miss it! I challenge you to give the most compelling and interesting announcement your church has ever heard (three reasons to go are detailed below), fill up your cars with women of ALL ages and, on the way to the event, start developing those relationships you have been longing for.
- Our August short-term mission to Mistissini, Quebec, is almost full but do contact me if you feel God tugging at you to apply!
May you know the resurrection power of Jesus in your life.
Blessings,
Brenda

1. Project of the Month - French Canada
French Canada is close to the heart of Baptist Women. Indeed, in 2011, we asked CBM to prayerfully consider using some of Baptist Women's cottage-legacy gift to support Canadian Baptists' work in French Canada. Let us not forget our French sisters in prayer.
2. April 21, 2012 Women On A Mission (Great Event/annual general meeting)
There are three good reasons to come be a woman on a mission with us:
i) Frontlines, Oasis, Matthew House-Toronto, Thornhill Baptist Live-In Caregiver Ministry (formerly the Filipino nanny group), Youth UnLimited Light Patrol and other organizations need your hands, heart and energy to move specific projects forward . . . read more on the registration/information form
ii) Laugh, talk, connect with other women on a mission before you even arrive. Half the excitement of a women's event is the company of sisters you keep while getting there! Get to know a sister in Christ from your community while you take the same train, bus or carpool to Mississauga Chinese Baptist Church.
iii) See and hear what CBWOQ is all about . . . and what our 2013 Women's Weekend Away holds in store for you.
So, get the March/April 2012 issue of The Link & Visitor, fill out and mail in the registration form you'll find on its inside back cover. Off site workshop spaces are capped so you'll want to get your registration in early. Forms are also accessible on our website (under Resources/Forms) or available from our office (black/white photocopied form only).
3. Baptist Women Sunday - April 29, 2012
The last Sunday in April has traditionally been our Baptist Women Sunday, a time when Baptist women plan and lead the Sunday morning service, enjoy a Baptist woman's sermon and highlight the work of CBWOQ to the congregation at large. Often, you've picked another Sunday if this date hasn't worked for your church. This year's Sunday is April 29 (or any date that works for you).
Please share with us the creative, fresh ways with which you will celebrate the legacy and continued contributions of the women, young and old, in your church community. We want to feature your stories and photos on our website and in our magazine. Just e-mail your short reports (50 words maximum) and photos to bmann@baptist.ca and rsejames@gmail.com.
4. Paddle With A Passion from July 6 - 8
Love our outdoors? This unique experience allows you to enjoy a canoe trip in the Kawarthas (just north of Peterborough), meet other Baptist sisters and learn more about CBWOQ. This opportunity may catch the fancy of younger women, so please contact Brenda Mann to learn more: bmann@baptist.ca/416-620-2953. Then share the information with all the women at your church.
5. NABWU 2012: Book your seat now
Nashville, Tennessee, here we come! Baptist Women has organized a tour to NABWU's October 2012 Assembly in Nashville, Tennessee. Dates are October 2 - 7. We have pre-booked 15 seats to fly out of Toronto, joining with 25 women from Atlantic Canada who are meeting us in Toronto. Only a few of you have booked seats so please contact us at 416-620-2954 or bwoq@baptist.ca for more information including costs. Or visit our website at www.baptistwomen.com/Resources/Forms for the tour's itinerary.
