You are reading the May 2010 E-LINK, a monthly newsletter from Canadian Baptist Women of Ontario and Quebec (CBWOQ) to all who are interested in CBWOQ's vision and work, and to all who serve and lead on CBWOQ's behalf.

Thank you for sharing the information in this E-LINK with everyone in your church.

Brenda's Blessings
This has been a busy and exciting "Baptist Women's Season."

I have been really blessed meeting with you at:
- brainstorming sessions in Brantford and Midland
- the Middlesex-Lambton-Huron BW Day Apart
- Lakefield Baptist's "Women in Crisis" event
- CBOQ's New Pastors' Orientation
- Baptist Women's Sunday at King St. Baptist in Cambridge
- Owen Sound Association's Celebration event
- a gathering of our NABWU executive and young women's network in Toronto

And of course, technology helps me connect with you when we aren't able to meet in person. We've shared phone calls, e-mails and board members and I used Skype for the first time . . . to have a board meeting!

As many of you will have read on our website and in our special April 2010 E-LINK, the decision has been made to sell our cottage so that we can make the best use of resources for ministry and mission.

I have many things in my to-do pile. Hopefully that pile will include my encouraging of all the participants on our August 2010 short-term mission to the Czech Republic. I say hopefully because we are waiting on your applications so that this trip can happen! Do let me know right away if you are interested!

I am blessed as I see the many varied ways women are using their gifts in ministry. I know many of you participated and led in your home church's Baptist Women's Sunday. And you are involved in and leading in ministry throughout the year. Thank you so much!

May the newness of spring fill your hearts along with the hope of Isaiah 40:31: "Those who wait upon the Lord get fresh strength" (The Message)

Blessings, Brenda

Executive Director, CBWOQ

1. URGENT: Your photos are needed for our BW video - by May 13
Voices, images, music . . .all woven together to tell the compelling story of Baptist Women. We are making a BW video so that you will have something at your fingertips to show anyone who asks you: "What is BW about and why should I care?" It will be available on our website and on DVD.

To tell the story well - we need your help.

Please send in, either as e-mail attachments or as prints, photos showing you and your Baptist women sisters in action: in Bible study, leading, at Association events, singing, speaking, laughing, praying, hugging, preparing meals, walking for BWOQ . . . BW missionaries, community projects that you've championed and led at your church . . . we are looking for women-in-action shots.

We need your photos by May 13. E-mail them to rsejames@gmail.com and miranda.k.hassell@gmail.com.

2.    Project of the Month - In Honour and In Memory Cards
What a wonderful way to remember our shared history and those who've kept this movement of women alive.

In Honour and In Memory cards allow you to publicly remember a dear friend, colleague or loved one. Every time you use one of these cards, the person you remember is named in our magazine, The Link & Visitor. And Baptist Women gratefully acknowledges receipt of your gifts.

3.     Oasis Fundraiser - Saturday May 29
Walk, run, or play at this annual fundraiser for the Oasis Dufferin Community Centre in Toronto. For more information, contact Oasis at 416-536-3197.

4.     The Great Event - Friday June 11
Held during CBOQ's Assembly, "Celebrating Eights" is our Great Event's theme this year and you won't want to miss this well-paced, interactive time of relaxed fellowship, fun, food and business.

A salad and sandwich celebration lunch features the 75th anniversary of Canadian Baptist Women, with a special guest joining us. Both at lunch and in our business meeting, attendees will hear eight-minute updates from many of the ministry projects financially supported by Baptist Women.

Register through your CBOQ Assembly registration package and visit our website for updates.

5.    Board members and Annual Report
Our 2009 Annual Report plus a list detailing our nominees for our 2010-2011 board of directors will be included in the registration package going to CBOQ Assembly registrants. This full package will also be sent to churches who are not sending delegates. Do be on the lookout for these key documents. Our annual report will also be posted on our web site in the resources section.
