Hi everyone. Thanks so much for your prayers as Shirley and I have finished the second workshop with the Kui people. There were 20 women and four pastors...two of whom translated and participated and two were participants in all the sessions.
We discovered that we can cover the eight sessions in two days rather than three . . . it means condensing the material a bit and also that we are 'toast' after the second day, but it also means that we can travel on what would have been the third day of the workshop and so have an additional day to recover. What joy we felt on Thursday when David dedicated the Oriya translation of the book, and as we placed a copy of the book in the hands of each of the women to take back to their churches. That's the first picture with Eso, a Kui pastor translating for the group from David's English into Oriya.
Shirley and I were very tired that evening...but we both slept really well and have been enjoying the weekend in the air conditioned cool of the hotel in Visag and have had a chance to walk by the Indian Ocean and watch the breakers rolling in. I even found a little shell today on the littered beach. We've had a chance to plan and pray about the next seven workshops...we are doing one additional one for the many social workers who are involved in community developement - both to encourage them and to give them an idea of how to use the program in their work in the rural communities.
So thank you for you prayers for energy and good health as we work closely with David Sarma...who is a wonderful host...to do the workshops. The second picture is of the two pastors who translated for the Saura workshop, David Sarma and Shirley and I in our sari finery! David has a vision for the Groups of Hope and will be leading a small group of participants in the next workshops when we divide the large group into three smaller ones the size of the group that we suggest when individuals are having a session in their church or community.
The vegetarian diet has sorted itself out as well and with boiled eggs and peanut butter we are doing well and my hunger has subsided :)
Thanks, dear friends, for your prayers and love that I can feel across the miles...around the globe! The next update I will fill you in on the specific dates for the workshops...for this week it is: Monday five hours of travel to Serango again, then Tuesday and Wednesday the Oriya workshop - with travel back from Serango to the hotel in Visag on Thursday.
Love and blessings.
