Sometimes things just happen to us. We don't go looking for it...it just finds us! A great deal of my most cherished memories happen this way, and watching the 2010 Olympic torch race through our little village, was one of those surprise moments.

The day started like any other, up at the crack of dawn with our toddler, sleepily working through the usual morning routine. My husband had mentioned the Olympic torch would be coming through the village this day. The thought crossed my mind, I should get out there and take a few pictures, perhaps even freelance one or two to the local paper, but busy with our little one, the idea left me as quick as it came. Still in my pyjamas, I began to draw open the livingroom curtains and was surprised (and slightly annoyed) to see a gathering of people outside our home. What are they all doing I thought, wishing I wasn't in my pyjamas. Then I caught it, the flicker of a flame coming down the street. Instantly, I remembered; "The Olympic Torch"! Dashing into my camera bag, I grabbed my camera and hoisting myself up on my daughter's toy trunk, pyjamas and all, I fired my shutter, frame after frame...catching the moment.

Granted my photos weren't going to win any awards, and certainly I don't want to be thought of as the pyjama photojournalist, but I was able to enjoy the Olympic torch admidst all the hustle and bustle of our early morning!
