Preparing for the next thing: Do you ever get so busy preparing for the next thing that you almost miss life right now? When I am honest, I admit that that is true far too often for me. I get so excited about what is coming that I can almost neglect what is!

But life has a way of reminding me of the gift of each day and the fragility of our human existence. My 92-year-old father-in-law, who fractured two neck vertebrae last week and who is now wearing a "halo" for three months, survived the removal of a breathing tube today! Thank you heavenly Father for your care for him and for each of us.

I am so thankful for my family too - my husband, kids and grand-daughters that help me put life in balance. Just sitting quietly beside Adelyn's crib and watching her breath is a treasured moment.

I am thankful for friends and facebook postings and good books that also slow me down and give me gentle reminders that God has it all in His control!

So join me as I take a deep breath and inhale all that God has in store!

I'm going to head home now, go for a walk and let God do His prep for "the next thing" on "our" list!
